The Department of Nephrology specializes in caring for patients with kidney diseases. The dialysis center at the Bangalore Baptist hospital was opened on the 13th of August, 2004, with a four-bed dialysis unit. This was initially tended to by the Manipal Institute of Nephrology and Urology and later tended to by KANTI, a unit of the Columbia Asia group of hospitals. Since 2009, Nephrology services are being managed directly by BBH with a ten-bed unit and state-of-the-art equipment.

The department treats patients who suffer from chronic and acute kidney failure, poisoning, and other conditions which require dialysis therapy by providing:

  • Hemodialysis
  • Follow-up care for patients on chronic peritoneal dialysis as well as both pre- and post-kidney transplant care
  • Kidney biopsy to provide patient diagnosis and help plan on the best treatment options available, leaving the final decision of the most cost- effective choice of treatment to the patient
  • Donor options since we are partnered with NIMHANS for the deceased donor organ transplant program
