Palliative Care

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that hospitals treating life limiting diseases must have a Palliative Care team. The motto of the Palliative Care team at Bangalore Baptist Hospital is to add life to days. Right from the time of cancer diagnosis to symptom management, the Palliative Care team provides wholistic care for patients and their families.

The team is divided into two groups – the urban group and the rural group who spend five days a week travelling across Bangalore to visit terminally ill patients in their homes. Other than physical aid, the team provides emotional, psycho-social, and spiritual support to patients. Furthermore, we empower the family to take care of their loved one and counsel them in trying times. Each team comprises of a doctor, nurses and a chaplain for counselling. Currently we have 80 to 100 patients under our care.
